Andy Griffith is one of those public figures whose death actually is something of a bummer to me. When most celebrities pass away, I take the news as a simple matter of fact. I don't know thee people.

And while I'm not in mourning or anything crazy like that, the news of Andy Griffith's death compelled me to just do a little homage.

His death is like watching something of your childhood slip away. Like you grew up with this face on tv and hearing about him die is like a tiny piece of what made that show magic died in a way too.

I was one of those strange kids that associated more the the older people in my neighborhood. I remember sitting on Mrs. Jane Francis's floor watching Matlock and eating sugar-free ice cream as she told me why her husband and her couldn't adopt because of some obscure Catholic rule and what it was like to be an orphan in the '30s (just a hint, it wasn't nice). She used to say the Andy was "a fine looking man, but not as handsome as Mr. Francis in his uniform."

Mrs. Francis is gone and, now, so is Matlock. I has a sad. :(

What a brilliant homage to a brilliant actor!....They don't make them like they used to.
